Starting this Thursday, October 13, IUP will kick off it’s Homecoming weekend with the Mac Miller concert. This means that all of us students have to prepare for this… and fast! So here are my few pointers for what to do before Thursday rolls around.

1. Do all of your work EARLY

Make sure that every assignment due for that week is at least started. It would be even better if you get it finished. Don’t procrastinate and tell yourself that you’ll do it over the weekend, because I can GUARANTEE that you won’t even touch it.

2. Don’t be THAT girl.

Know your limits if you’re drinking. Try drinking water and eating in between beverages to keep your composure. Nobody likes a sloppy drunk mess that has to be taken care of. We’re all using this weekend to celebrate our school spirit and to take a break from worrying, so if you’re something we have to worry about, we may resent you for it later.

3. ALWAYS have a squad.

DO NOT go out by yourself. This campus is a safe place, but if you’re planning to wander off campus, gather some friends and go out together. Make sure each of you has a buddy to look after too. Never walk away from your group and if you lose them, be sure to have a group chat where you can all contact each other for a meeting point.

4. HYDRATE.

Like I said earlier, nobody likes a drunk mess to take care of. And even if you have a high tolerance, you still need water to combat the mass amounts of alcohol. Water can also cause you to have a less severe hangover which is a plus for everybody!

5. Be RESPONSIBLE.

Everybody’s drunk-self is stupid. But make sure your drunk-self still looks out for your sober-self. Because sometimes drunk-you can really make a fool out of herself. Just remember that drunk-you is still responsible for the repercussions that can affect sober-you in the future.

Have a happy and safe homecoming IUP!
