Franky Arroyo – Endowed Scholar

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

I am so excited to introduce a Campus Celebrity that I believe deserves recognition. This person has worked hard and accomplished many things in his life and deserves to know that we are proud of his accomplishments. This person is none other than Franky Arroyo.

Franky Arroyo is from Allentown, PA and is just finishing his freshman year at Indiana University of Pennsylvania at the Punxsutawney campus. Many were worried about Franky attending college – why? Because he hated anything that was related to school. He went to school just for the sake of it, so when it was time to start picking colleges and planning for his future he was at an impass. He decided to go to IUP and was accepted to the Punxsutawney campus.

At the beginning, he was scared to go, but he was given an opportunity to take summer classes and join a program called PAC. Through PAC, he got his job as a Community Assistant.  From being scared to go to school to now, it is easy to say that his college career has done nothing but blossom. He has surpassed what many could have imagined and now, he is an Endowed Scholar Scholarship winner (he will have his picture hanging up in the halls of Punxsy), President of the Unidad (a Hispanic club that he helped establish at the Punxsy campus), and is a part of the Student Ambassadors.

Franky can be described as honest, humble, loyal, friendly, funny, and hardworking. He is a Small Business Entrepreneur major and he is looking forward to his future years as a college student and later becoming a Mortician. We are all looking forward to watching him attain many more successes.
