Best Places to get Christmas Presents on a Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

It’s that time of year again where we have to shop for Christmas presents for family and friends. Several of us might have spent too much on Starbucks or eating too muchChipotle and we also have to save for books for next semester, so major deals are a must. There is always the option to go to Bath and Body Works, Victoria’s Secret, Forever 21, and others for their after Christmas sales for friends at college. The issue is having to buy for people prior than those amazing sales that break the bank. There are many stores, however, that let you shop for the ones you love without making you wince.

TJ Maxx and Marshalls are amazing places to go Christmas shopping for people because they suit many styles. There are clothes for young children and several toys and pet-related items for that animal lover on your list. Usually in the back of the store, depending on the location, can be household items such as pillows, candles, home décor, and kitchen ware. For the fashionista on your list, there is a huge purse, jewelry, and shoe selection available for you to choose from. These stores have a lot of items for the men on your list including sports gear, winter clothing, work clothing, and luggage for travel. At both of these stores, there is a bunch of little items near the cash register for that hard to buy for individual on your list.

Target is an excellent place for gift buying because there is a huge selection of items including electronics, home décor, clothes, jewelry, and makeup. They have many trendy and inexpensive traditional items for everyone on your list. Their items are more upscale than other locations and look expensive. Men and women love target so it is usually a great gift if you just want to get them a gift card from there too.

Experiences are excellent gifts for people and significant others. Some options include concerts, seasonal ice skating, musicals, comedy clubs, city trips, and sports events. Many people would rather have experiences than store bought gifts so there are several options available depending on what city you are in. Many townships have fun inexpensive events that are fun to go to with friends and significant others. Pittsburgh has several options when it comes to winter related events and activities. Food is also an amazing experience when it comes to trying out a new restaurant in town to cooking a deluxe homemade meal at home in the pleasure of a candlelight dinner.

Homemade gifts are always awesome when it comes to shopping for friends or your significant other. Nothing is better than getting home décor gifts to decorate your dorm room or apartment with. They are fun, inexpensive, from the heart, and don’t forget, free! College is one of the best places to get things for free at and every student loves getting free items to assist with their budgets.
