Red: passionate, classic, lovely…and when painted on your lips, dynamite. The ever-glamorous red lip has the power to transform a girl into a woman. There is nothing like stepping out in killer pumps and a fresh coat of red lipstick (especially for a proud Hoosier), but many collegeittes have never experienced this feeling because they fear the commitment. A red lip is bold. A red lip is eye-catching. “I can’t pull off red lipstick,” is probably the biggest lie you’ve ever told yourself. Everyone can rock a red lip; you just have to find the perfect red lip for you.

Skin Type: Fair

Coral-y reds look most beautiful on you. They add a shot of color, but aren’t overpowering.

3. Gold-flecked – Elizabeth Arden Color Intrigue Effects Lipstick in Ruby Pearl, $20.

Once you’ve discovered your knock-out shade of red lipstick, there are a few ways you can make your hot red lips really turn some heads, without having to waste time reapplying!

Step 1: Exfoliate & Moisturize

Brush on your favorite lip scrub to remove any dead skin and smooth out the surface of your lips. This creates the perfect canvas for a moisturizing lip balm, which you should apply next.

Step 2: Line

Add definition and shape to your pout by applying a lip liner that matches the shade of your lipstick. This will help prevent feathering later — that is, your lipstick won’t run outside of the lines!

Step 3: Lipstick

Now for the fun part! Be careful to stay inside the lines…

Step 4: Seal

Smooch-ceritified lips are just one step away; just seal the deal! Hold a tissue over your lips and lightly dust a translucent powder over the tissue. The powder will fall on your lips, and it will set your lip color the very same way it sets the makeup on your face.
