1Halloween (1978)

This slasher film starring Jamie Lee Curtis (the dean on Scream Queens) is the ultimate Halloween cult classic—there are 9 additions to the franchise for a reason.

2. Hocus Pocus (1993)

Three sister-witches return to Salem, Massachusetts nearly 300 years after being sentenced to death for their witchery. Add in a talking cat, silly spells and young love, and this movie is a heartwarming Halloween tale.

3. Scream (1996)

When a ghoul-faced killer begins targeting teenagers in a small town, a band of high school students attempt to discover his identity—many screams are involved, indeed.

4. The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

A Tim Burton treasure, this movie is technically both a Halloween and Christmas tale. Watch Jack Skellington’s antics and prepare yourself for the nearing holiday season.

5. Halloweentown (1998)

A classic example of the 90s glory days in Disney Channel original movies, a young witch must save her family by honing her powers.

6. Carrie (1976)

Although the Chloë Grace Moretz remake is a refreshing modern take on the Stephen King tale, nothing beats the original starring a fresh-faced Sissy Spacek.

7. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966)

Arguably the cutest Halloween movie of all, the Peanuts gang celebrates Halloween!

8. Beetlejuice

With a follow-up in the works, refresh your memory of the Michael Keaton classic. But don’t say the name three times…

9. The Addams Family (1991)

They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky—that’s for sure! The movie is just as dark and humorous as the early 70s television show.

10 Ghost Busters (1987)

If you think the original is funny, an all-female reboot of the ghostly comedy is set to be released next year with Kristin Wiig and Melissa McCarthy!
