John Horan is a sophomore Journalism major, soon-to-be TVR major, from Lansdale, Pennsylvania. He exercises his creative juices writing for an ICTV show Leave the Light on with Daveand performing with IC Comedy Club. Topping an impressive second place finish in the IC Stand-Up Competition as a freshman, John took first place this fall earning himself the title, “Funniest Ithacan.”
 
HC: Why’d you come to IC?
JH: The park school was mainly what drew me here. I did a lot of communication stuff in high school and IC alum came to my high school and talked about it. And there sprouted my interest.
 
HC: Why are studying your current major?
JH: TV-R is the only thing I can see myself doing and being happy. It’s something I really enjoy doing and I don’t think I get sick of it.
 
HC: What is your life motto?
JH: I hate the movie Little Miss Sunshine but I love a quote from it, “Do what you love and fuck the rest.”
 
HC: What is your ideal date?
JH: Go out to dinner, of course. I am a personal fan of Italian food. Get some good conversation and good food going. And then we’ll add some adventure– go do something fun, like go go-carting. And then we’ll come back and watch a rom-com. (romantic comedy)
 
HC: What’s your favorite romantic comedy?
JH: The Wedding Singer
 
HC: What do you look for in a girl?
JH: Smiles. I love smiles. Smiles are my favorite thing in the world. Also, sense of humor. And she’s gotta be silly. I’m weird, so she’s gotta be silly.
 
 
HC: Who’s your same-sex crush?
JH: Dave Mathews
 
HC: What do you do in your spare time?
JH: I like telling jokes, lounging, eating wings and Taco Bell, the shows Phineas and Ferb and Creature Comforts, late night diners, dancing — Just being weird with my friends.
 
 
HC: Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
JH: Hopefully employed and making people laugh in some way or another.
 
HC: What three words describe yourself?
JH: Crazy. Awesome. Weird.
 
HC: What are three fun facts about you?
JH: I can belly dance. I can get completely naked in under 3 seconds. I can sing the alphabet backwards.
 
HC: Are you single?
JH: Unbelievably.
