This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Halloween is approaching, and that means it’s time to start streaming your favorite Halloween movies on Netflix. Whether you’re a horror movie enthusiast or a fan of the classics from your childhood, this list has something for you.

1. “Practical Magic”

In this Halloween classic, sisters Sally and Gillian are modern-day witches whose love lives are complicated by an unusual curse.

2. “Children of the Corn”

A couple stranded in a rural town falls into the hands of a group of children who murder all of the town’s adults at the command of their leader.

3. “Curse of Chucky”

The wisecracking doll possessed by a psychopathic killer returns to terrorize a young woman in a wheelchair and her troubled family.

4. “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”

A lonely suburban boy befriends a gentle alien and tries to help it return home while protecting it from government forces that are in pursuit.

5. “Sleepy Hollow”

Starring Johnny Depp, New York detective Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate a series of mysterious deaths in which the victims are found beheaded.

6. “The Corpse Bride”

In this Tim Burton film, just as Victor is about to be married, he is sucked into the underworld by a Corpse Bride.

7. “The Babadook”

Sam’s frequent tantrums turn sinister when a creepy children’s book mysteriously appears in his room, and he asks his mother, “Do you want to die?”

8. “The Amityville Horror”

Starring Ryan Reynolds, this hair-raising remake of the 1979 horror hit depicts the ordeal of the Lutz family, whose new home has a gory past and a legacy of demons.

9. “The Addams Family”

Stepping out of the pages of Charles Addams’ cartoons and the 1960s television series, members of the beloved macabre family take to the big screen in this 1991 classic.

10. “Dead Silence”

In the wake of his Bride’s death, grieving newlywed Jamie is forced to return to his hometown, where he butts heads with the ghost of a ventriloquist.

11. “V/H/S”

They wanted a rare VHS tape. They found a dead body. And a spine-chilling collection of horror stacked around him.

12. “Devil”

Detective Bowden must save five people trapped in an elevator and he has to do it fast, because one of them is the devil.

13. “Hotel Transylvania 2”

Last but not least, after Mavis weds Jonathan and baby Dennis arrives, Dracula looks for proof that his grandson is a vampire and needs to remain in Transylvania.

This is the perfect light-hearted Halloween film to help you sleep at night after watching any of the scary movies on this list.

Netflix may not currently stream all of your Halloween favorites (e.g. Hocus Pocus?!) but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing else that can compete this Halloween season. Which movies are you planning on watching?
