7 Signs Thanksgiving Break is Approaching

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

Around this time of year, certain signs begin to appear that signals a break is upon us. During my time in college, these are a few signals I have spotted:

1. Every guy needs a haircut.

Just about every dude on campus is sporting a hairstyle that looks like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo; or they have the worst buzz cut because all of their floor buddies decided to pitch in to buy a razor and save money (but no one knows how to use it).

2. Everyone looks like a zombie.

Those all-nighters, thirsty Thursdays, and long weekends are catching up and now with homework piling up, you have no time to gain back the sleep you have been losing.

3. More people are carrying around reusable or dining center drink cups.

You took a peek at your bank account or checked how much flex you have left… yikes.

4. People are wearing odd outfit combinations.

You see people sporting a sweatshirt, leggings, and flip flops or a hoodie with another hooded jacket over top with shorts even though its forty degrees; many students haven’t gone home yet to get the rest of their winter clothing so they’re trying their best to make the most of what they have in this awful Illinois weather.

5. You are addicted to caffeine. End of story.

Coffee is life. Life is coffee.

6. When someone says the words, “pumpkin pie” you immediately begin to salivate.

Just the thought of a home-cooked meal makes you “hangry” and you want nothing more than to go home and stuff your pie hole with, well, pie.

7. It is getting cold and you hate your life.

Don’t worry, dear friend.  Christmas break is right around the corner.

Her dream is to someday move to Neverland where she can be young forever and never have to grow up...but if that doesn't work out, her fall back plan is to live in a tiny, but extremely chic, studio apartment in the big city.
