The High Point University campus was buzzing at night with designer dresses and fashionistas. The main event of the evening was the unveiling of the Campus Closet brought to the High Point campus by Alicia Doyle, manager of Rent the Runway and featured It Girl. Rent the Runway is an exclusive membership that lets women rent designer dresses for a fraction of the cost for any occasion. Just some of the dresses in the Campus Closet featured designers Nicole Miller, Robert Rodriguez, Tibi and more. These dresses were brought here exclusively for It Girl members. The It Girl program offers girls unlimited access to the designer dresses in the Campus Closet that are brought to campus, each month with different inventory. The girls rented dresses for dinner dates, pin attire, birthday parties and many more events.
One girl who was looking for a special dress for her friend’s birthday was Alexandra Purves, a junior at High Point University who rented the Rebecca Taylor “Palm Beach Babe” dress for the event. I got to personally sit down with her and ask how she felt about the It Girl Program:
Q: How great were the dresses in this month’s inventory? What is the trend that you see?
A: I really, really like them a lot. They are all really cute with different styles for every girl. And I personally really like the open back styles!
Q: What are you planning on renting these dresses for?
A: I am renting the Rebecca Taylor dress specifically for a friend’s birthday. But, I’ve rented others just for fun and to look good.
Q: Which dresses are your favorites?
A: I really like the Tibi “Angelic Lace” dress, the Pencey “Just Enough” dress and of course, the Camilla and Marc “Now We’re Colorblocking” dress that I rented.
Q: Would you recommend this membership to a friend? Why?
A: Yes! Well, I like to wear things once and you can wear great dresses and don’t pay full price!
The birthday party that Alexandra plans to attend is just one reason why to rent such a great dress. Being a part of Rent the Runway lets women find that perfect dress for any occasion and being a member of the It Girl program, girls get to be a part of the selection that comes to campus and have exclusive access to any of the dresses that are a part of the closet for the month.
