Holiday Movies to Boost Your Christmas Cheer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GWU chapter.

It’s November 1, which means one thing: Christmas season has officially started. That’s right, it’s now officially socially acceptable to pull out your favorite ugly Christmas sweater and start blasting “Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber at all hours. In order to get your Christmas cheer up and give you an excuse to push off that final research paper, here are some of the best Christmas movies to watch during the holiday season.

A Christmas Story

Watch this one and try not to smile, I double-dog dare you to. If a leg lamp and a kid sticking his tongue to a frozen pole doesn’t remind you of Christmas, I don’t know what will. Or maybe that’s just me, since this movie has been a Christmas classic for me since I was little.

Love Actually

Personally, I could watch this movie all year long. But, it’s even better watching Hugh Grant dance down the stairs with a cup of hot chocolate and your favorite fuzzy sweater on. And let’s be real, who doesn’t love a cute rom-com at the end of the day?

The Santa Clause

Everybody wanted their dad to be Santa Claus growing up, or at least I know I did. This movie is the perfect thing to watch when you want to relive your childhood dreams and memories.

Elf

It’s a modern-day Christmas classic. There’s nothing else to say to it.

The Polar Express

Although it can be quite sad, this movie never fails to remind me of being a little kid on Christmas Eve. So if you’re looking to be a little sentimental this holiday season, I completely suggest this adorable classic.
