5 Thoughts Every Zag Fan Has During Tenting Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gonzaga chapter.

Tenting season has been a fun tradition for Gonzaga students for many years.  We spend our weekends prepping for the next big basketball game, filling ourselves with more excitement and anticipation as game day approaches.  Here are some thoughts every Zag has during their tenting experience.

1. “I have to run WHERE?”

By far, the worst part about tenting is running to get your tent number (unless you enjoy running, then good for you!).  You have no idea where to go and whether or not you’ll have to run to begin with.  You’re afraid you’ll trip, question if your shoes are tied moments before they announce the location for placement distribution, and you might feel a little awkward when you realize the location is on the other side of campus.

2. “We got a number!”

Whether or not your number is high up on the scale, you’re still excited to have even gotten one. That means, you’re in! The lower number the better, but getting tent number 42 wasn’t so bad when I was sitting in the 6th row. Now all you have to do is set up your tent.

3. “I’m going to freeze tonight.”

WHY is basketball season in the winter? You’re going to be pretty cold in the tent, so make sure to bundle up and have your best friends near by to cuddle with! I can guarantee we would all much rather be sleeping in our warm beds than out here in the cold with just our sleeping bags. Oh well, it will be worth it when our favorite team wins (GO ZAGS!).

4. “Shoot, now I have to put all of this stuff away?”

Yep. Pack your bags and bring everything back home, because the game is about to start. I know it’s going to be a hassle, but hey, maybe you can get a little bit of laundry out of the way when you wash your blankets!

5. “That was SO worth it.”

You bolted across campus for a number, slept in the freezing cold, wind, and possible rain, hauled everything back to your room, cheered on our Zags, and it’s all paid off. They WON! You and your friends have been so excited throughout the game and now get to go home with the victory and a fun weekend memory.

(Next thought, where’s my bed?) #GoZags!
