As the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton presided over one of the longest periods of peace and economic expansion in our country’s history. He was a proponent of the North American Free Trade Agreement. He also implemented “Don’t ask, don’t tell,” which was just recently repealed. Clinton attempted to launch a healthcare reform, but his efforts failed. Though he succeeded in passing welfare reform, and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.
After his affair with Monica Lewinsky, Clinton was the second U.S. President to be impeached. However, he still left office with the highest end-of-office approval rating since World War II. Since leaving office, President Clinton has been making public speaking appearances, and doing humanitarian work. He also created the William J. Clinton Foundation to deal with international issues.
