Riley Phillips: Classic, Charming and Politically Passionate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Name: Riley Philips

Year: Junior

Relationship Status: Single

Major/Minor: Political Science and Communications

Her Campus (HC): To start things off, describe yourself in three words

Riley Phillips (RP): Gracious, thoughtful and I’d like to think I’m joyful.

HC: Since you are studying politics, what is your ideal career?

RP: My dream job is press secretary for the President of the United States. I know that’s pretty lofty but we’ll see what happens along the way!

HC: Wow, that’s awesome! So with politics, you deal with a lot of international issues. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

RP: Lets see, well, I’ve always wanted to go to Greece. I love the food, the environment. I love the way everything looks, like the architecture. Maybe not now, because there are a lot of different issues going on, but once it gets better, I would definitely love to go! I actually just got my passport.

HC: Have you ever traveled outside the U.S.?

RP: No, I’m hoping to travel to London next summer and intern for a member of the parliament.

HC: That’s awesome, so what song are you super addicted to right now?

RP: “Come My Way” by Fetty Wap! I have that part stuck in my head where it’s like “first off lemme start by saying this—aye.” I say it over and over again.

HC: Favorite getaway spot in tally?

RP: I think the name is J Alfred Greenway. It’s a park or maybe a nature preserve? I’m not really sure but it’s huge! There are lots of trees and trails that go off in different directions. I love going on runs there, it’s my Friday afternoon thing, just getting some sun and being one with nature.

HC: Since Fall is officially upon us, what are some of your favorite things about the season, any favorite fashion trends?

RP: First off, the weather. Oh I definitely love the Pumpkin spice; I really like the aroma of it. Plaid, I really love plaid. I also like Crewneck sweaters and a button-down with a sweater over it. I think my style is preppy.

HC: Where do you find your style inspiration?

RP: Pinterest for sure! There is this girl on Instagram and her name is Sarah and her fiancé and I follow them. They’re very northeastern so J Crew. She’s very American classic, my style inspiration.

HC: Okay, last question: with the new iPhone out, which is your favorite color?

RP: I would still pick the silver. Actually no, I would say gold. It’s still different but the rose gold is a little too pink for me.
