6 Refreshing Drinks to Fuel Your Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fordham chapter.

Looking for a refreshing way to cool down in the hot sun this summer? Amp up your summer drink game with these light cocktails that’ll keep you oh-so-cool in the summer heat.

1. Rosé Sangria

½ cup sugar

2 pears

2 peaches

1 cup raspberries

¼ cup Triple Sec

1 bottle Rosé

Make a simple syrup: boil ½ cup of water in a small saucepan, remove from the heat, add the sugar and stir until dissolved. Let cool.

Slice fruit, put in pitcher. Add triple sec, cold simple syrup, and Rosé.

2. Strawberry Daiquiri Jell-O Shots

    Large Strawberries

    1 box strawberry Jell-O

    1 cup of boiled water

    1 cup rum

    Juice of 3 limes

    Sugar

Slice the tops and tips of the strawberries so they stand on their own (make sure there’s not hole in the bottom). Scoop out the insides of the strawberry so it’s hollow.

Whisk together Jell-O and boiling water until dissolved. Add rum and lime juice, whisk to combine.

Pour Jello-O mixture into strawberries. Refrigerate 4 hours.

Dip tops of strawberries in sugar.

3. Sweet Tea Sangria

1 Bottle of white wine (750 mL)

    4 cups of sweet tea

    ¼ cup triple sec

    2 cups of sliced peaches

    2 cups of raspberries

Combine wine, sweet tea, triple sec, peaches, and raspberries. Stir and refrigerate

4. Sweet Tea Mint Julep

    7 cups of boiling water

    2 cups of sugar

1 cup of loosely packed mint leaves

    3 tea bags

    1 ½ cups of bourbon

Make a simple syrup by stirring sugar and 4 cups of water. Add the mint leaves and the teabags. Let steep for ten minutes and remove tea bags. Strain the tea into a pitcher, add ice. Add bourbon and garnish with mint.

5. Blackberry Mojito

    ½ cup of blackberries

    Fresh mint leaves

    Juice of 2 limes

    1 teaspoon of sugar

    ½ cup of light rum

    Club Soda

Muddle blackberries and mint, then spoon into glasses. Add rum, sugar, and lime juice and stir to combine. Top with crushed ice. Add club soda to fill and garnish with mint leaves and blackberries.

6. Strawberry Frosé

1 bottle of rosé (750 mL)

    2 cups of chopped strawberries

    ¼ cup of vodka

¼ cup of fresh lemon juice

Combine half a bottle of rosé, strawberries, half the vodka, and half the lemon juice in a blender. Add 2 cups of ice and blend until slushy. (If the mixture is too watery, add more ice and blend again.) Repeat with the rest of the ingredients. Add a fresh strawberry garnish.
