So You’re Not Getting Cuffed… How to Survive Cuffing Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

According to Urban Dictionary, cuffing season is defined as “The fall and winter months [when] people who would normally rather be single or promiscuous find themselves, along with the rest of the world, desiring to be “cuffed” or tied down by a serious relationship. The cold weather and prolonged indoor activity causes singles to become lonely and desperate to be cuffed.”

As temperatures drop into the 30s and 40s, it is undeniable to admit that ~cuffing szn~ is upon us. Couples can be seen holding hands around campus, giggling over cocktails at Brick & Wood, and smiling for cute selfies on a romantic date to the pumpkin patch.

Read on for pro-tips on how to survive what seems like the loneliest part of the year!

Girlfriends > boyfriends Take this time to focus on your girl friends. Who says a hot date can only be with a romantic interest? Book a dinner reservation with your best friends, get dressed up, and just enjoy your time together!

Hit up the gym Take advantage of the new RecPlex! You can tone up and simultaneously de-stress from schoolwork. You may even hit it off with a tall, dark & handsome stranger.

Focus on your schoolwork Don’t stress about guys this semester and instead focus on getting that seemingly unattainable 4.0. Take rapid notes, spend time in the library, and attend office hours. Your grade point average will definitely thank you.

Reinvent yourself Feeling kind of blah lately? Maybe its time to try out a new hair color or style.

Remember that you are great and do not need a guy to complete you Those that are searching for their “other half” are full of it. Remember that you are more than just a half – you are one full person and are pretty damn fabulous.
