Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2018 Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Fairfield chapter.

What does every collegiette fantasize about time and time again? Their dream wedding, of course!

We all know the bride is the star of the show and her dress should be nothing short of amazing. Bridal Fashion Week has finally arrived and the latest trends are simply gorgeous! There is a unique style for every bride that will no doubt complete her picture perfect day. Fresh off the runway, here are our top picks of the most stunning wedding dress trends for the Spring 2018 season.

1.) Shades of Blue

Remember that saying, “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?” We can’t forget our ~fav~ scene from Bride Wars when Emma and Liv share their blue hairpin on each other’s wedding day. Well, this wedding dress trend puts a whole new spin on the “something blue” tradition. Soft blue underlays compliment white lace embellishments to create a touch of delicacy, while enchanting pale turquoise ball gowns are fit for a princess.

2.) Cascading Ruffles

All brides looking for an element of drama will fall in love with this trend. Ruffles are the epitome of femininity and add an exciting ~wow~ factor to any silhouette. Allover ruffles provide a bold statement while cascading ruffles on a full skirt are just as flirty and fashionable.

3.) Sheer Corsets

Brides everywhere, get ready to embrace those curves and show off your one of a kind figure. We love how this trend accentuates the narrowest part of our bodies. Some even incorporate sheer fabric, creating just the right amount of sexy edge.

4.) Statement Bows

Even though bows are not new to the world of wedding dresses, designers have looked for new ways to incorporate bows into their look books this season. These bows gave tailored silhouettes an exciting element of dimension and adornment. Bows are a sophisticated and classic way to perfect any bride’s signature dress.

5.) Black Accents

It’s true, black was seen everywhere during Bridal Fashion Week. We are in awe over black being the new white and love how this trend is so out-of-the-box. Black ostrich feathers raise the boldness scale to a whole new level. Oh, and the channeling of Audrey Hepburn in sophisticated black bows is definitely appreciated!
