HCX Gift Guides: Dads

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

Of all the relatives we have to purchase for, Dads are notoriously the hardest. Often they might think something is a great present, while we wonder how anybody in their right mind could want it… for example, whilst we can reason with a bottle of whiskey, you can’t help but wonder what use anybody could have for a head torch!?

So, this year Her Campus have put together a gift guide which is intended in putting judgments aside and aims to get your dad a gift they’ll actually use and definitely appreciate.

First up is the most traditional of presents that it’d be hard to go wrong with… alcohol!

Bulleit Rye Whiskey, available at Masters of Malt comes in at £32, but looks all sorts more expensive and would be a great addition to your dad’s spirits cabinet. If you want something a little more fun running down the alcohol route, Best of British Beer do all sorts of fun brews: our personal favourite though has to be the 12 Beers of Christmas set which comes wrapped in a “robust Christmas tree” where 12 beers; one for every day from December 14th to Christmas Day is securely held inside.

Now, not all dads are alike… but the vast majority do a love a good BBQ. This personalised apron from Not on the High Street (always a fail-safe stop when you’re stuck for Christmas present inspiration…) we imagine would go down very well on Christmas morning.

Alternatively, for the BBQ-ing enthusiast who already owns aprons aplenty, this toolkit made by All Things Bright and Beautiful is something that your dad could grill with for years to come.

These cufflinks are another example of a fairly standard present, made special with a personalized twist. At Her Campus, we think that these cricket themed ones, featuring a bat on one cufflink and a red cricket ball on the other, would be perfect for any sports loving dad. Alternatively, the company Me and My Sport make many other varieties, but don’t think you’re limited to sport… following minimal research we’ve discovered that there exists a whole world of cufflink.

If you were looking to buy your dad something to do with technology, many of your other options are a little expensive… this 100% buffalo leather iPad case, however, is not only beautiful, but more budget friendly and also boasts a practicality that your dad should love and use for years to come.

And finally…

For dads, growing stubble is easy… they just dodge the razor for a while. However, maintaining stubble is a different story and so this beard kit gift box contains everything a blade shunning dad needs to keep his beard in tip-top shape. The kit includes both a Beard Soap, Beard Balm and also Sandalwood Styling Wax and a little pack of Love Heart Sweets. It’s everything your dad will need for perfect whisker formation this Christmas and comes beautifully gift boxed as standard, saving you that extra expense and work!
