Here at Her Campus, we understand that Fashion Week can appear rather daunting when considering the multitude of beauty and makeup trends that designer’s showcase. Your instagram is probably currently full of endless runway shots and backstage photos from the never-ending shows during the next couple of weeks. So we’ve decided to round up some of the key looks from New York Fashion Week for you!

1. WHITE

A recurring trend each season, designers showcased their gorgeous pieces with crisp, clean silhouettes in the brightest white shades, as shown at Narciso Rodriguez. We at Her Campus particularly love the slouchy polo-neck dress from DKNY, a perfect way to keep warm & chic during the colder months.

2. SEVENTIES

Alutzurra drew on the Seventies vibe for his show; think flares & wide-leg trousers and fringing for this retro-revival. Take inspiration from the Anna Sui show and pair a fun, colourful shaggy faux-fur gilet with a maxi dress for your own stamp on the trend, à la American Hustle.

3.  SPARKLE

It wouldn’t be a true Autumn/Winter collection if some designers didn’t include the ultimate party dresses! Glitzy dresses and jumpsuits galore, we’re currently lusting over this gorgeous Rodarte dress, perfect for New Years!

4. PARED-BACK BEAUTY

One of the biggest makeup trends shown at NY fashion week was beautiful, glowing and luminous skin. Barely there, natural make-up was shown at Ralph Lauren and Hugo Boss where make-up artists focused on prepping the skin with hydrating moisturisers, highlighter and subtle amounts of bronzer and mascara. Dab a little colour onto the lips to bring the whole look together.

5. BLACK LINER

A firm favourite with make-up artists, whether it’s Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter, black liner always makes a comeback. Diane Kendal lined the eyes with a smudged kohl pencil on the girls at Marc by Marc Jacobs for that classic ‘lived-in’ look.

6.  RED LIP

For a more sophisticated, pulled-together, evening look opt for the classic red lip. We personally can’t get over how stunning Karlie Kloss looked at the Carolina Herrera show!
