Lauren Amar, soon to be graduating sister of AEPhi, has been busy preparing for Ribbons 2015 as Event Chair. Ribbons on the Runway is Emerson Alpha Epsilon Phi Beta Alpha chapter’s springtime event that benefits their national philanthropy, Sharsheret. Amar says some of her most important responsibilities have been choosing, “venue choice, food and beverage, runway, program, flowers, lighting, sound” and more.

Getting Word Out to Phamily and Phriends

Amar is working closely with two sisters to make sure Ribbons gets the attention it deserves. Promotion Chair, sister Stephanie Pumilia, has been aiding Amar in creating promotional material, such as a whimsical and colorful video. “Steph and I directed the whole shoot, crafted ribbons and bought decorations. The day of the shoot, the whole promotional team helped out to make sure the shoots went well,” says Amar.

Alara Icten is the Marketing Chair, and she has been working on the social media side. Amar says, “With Alara, I’m working on making sure that Ribbons gets as much attention as possible. We are also making a very strong presence on social media using the photos and videos that the promo team worked on and sharing them via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.”

Running this Phabulous Show

Amar admits this has not been an easy process. “My hardest responsibility was working on budget. Even though AEPhi helps us fund the event, I also had to create an appeal for SGA and had to explain each of our expenses.”

She also had to book the Ritz, where the event will be held. Amar says, “I got in touch with their event manager and meet with her monthly to organize this as smoothly as possible.”

Prepping for a Phlawless Event

Amar has also been supporting sisters Leah Cumming (Fashion Chair) and Katie Caro (Auction Chair) to make sure they are ready for Sunday’s event. Amar says, “[I’ve been] meeting with them weekly, making sure the job is getting done.”

The hair salon is booked, the outfits are prepped, and makeup artists will be helping before the models hit the runway. They’ll be wearing designs from brands such as Crush Boutique, LF, Reiss, Ted Baker, and Brandy Melville. The baskets are filled to the brim with beautiful gifts and more than 60 items are ready to be auctioned off.

The Phinishing Touches

No AEPhi event would be complete without a little bit of extra flair. This is why Amar has two performances booked for the day of the show. Emerson Dance Company and Achoired Taste will be taking the stage on Sunday as well. Food and beverages will also be served after the show.
