How does it feel to be graduating?

It’s scary, but exciting at the same time! I am very excited to not have to do homework, but most importantly to be able to start the next chapter in my life!

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be staying in the Boston area! I have also been applying for jobs, so hopefully I will be working in the PR industry soon!

Are you going to miss being in college?  Why or why not?

I will definitely miss all of the relationships I’ve formed and having the ability to take interesting classes, but I feel very ready to move forward. It’s been an amazing experience, but I’m ready to see what’s next!

What is the hardest part about graduating (classwork, leaving friends, etc.)?

Honestly, coming to terms with the fact that this part of my life is done. I remember the first day I moved in, and I can’t believe how fast it has gone by. I’m not sure when it will officially hit me. It is a tough change to go through, but also a very exciting one.

What was your favorite class you got to take at Emerson and why?

I took three classes with Nancy Allen, and they were all amazing. Her War on Drugs class, Disability in the Media, and Sex, Society, and Health class were some of the best ones I have taken. She is so engaging and the topics are so fascinating!

Who was your favorite professor and why?

As I said above, Nancy Allen. I cannot say enough great things about her. She is so down to earth and really cares about the subjects she teaches. She has also changed my mind on several topics and has made me understand society better as a whole.

What is your favorite restaurant in Boston?

That’s such a hard one! I’d say Lucia in the North End! They have the best pesto pasta and bruschetta.

What is your favorite place to go in Boston?

Magnolia Bakery and Georgetown Cupcakes. I have such a sweet tooth (hence the picture)!

What is your favorite thing to do in Boston?

I love walking through Beacon Hill and Charles Street! It is so quaint!

What is your favorite part of being in Her Campus and what will you miss the most?

I loved being able to write weekly and grow my passion for social media! I have been able to work with some amazing people, and I’ll miss them the most!

What was your favorite part of being Social Media Director?

I loved being able to keep up with the social trends and post about our members! We did a lot of theme weeks, which were so fun! It was amazing being able to transform our social to fit us as a group!

What is your advice for future Social Media Directors?

Consistency is key! And also staying creative! There are always new memes and trendy pictures across social that you can pull inspiration from! Most important, is the interactions! Staying engaged with followers and other chapters can be fun, especially if they are local. It can also lead to collaborations.

Were you involved with any other Co-curriculars at Emerson?  If so, what will you miss most about it/them?

I was Beauty Director at em Magazine and also was captain of the Emerson College Cheerleading Squad! I’ll miss the people that I have been able to work with, as well as the creative outlet it has given me! With cheer, I’ll miss the whole team. It truly felt like a family and that is where I made some of my best friends.

What is one thing underclassmen should do before graduating college?

Be a tourist in Boston! The best thing is to play tourist for a day in a city that you live in! Go on adventures and really see the city!

What is one piece of advice you’d like to pass on to underclassmen?

Enjoy your senior year when it comes! It flies by and you will be caught up in the stress and job hunting, but also take the time to have some fun and make the most of your last year.

~BONUS QUESTIONS~

If you could be any animal what would you choose and why?

Turtle! They are my absolute favorite. They swim so slowly and just have this relaxed feel about them.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose and why?

I would love to fly! On days where I need to be somewhere fast, it would come in handy.

If you could go either back in time or forward in time for one day (24 hours), where would you go and why?

I would go back in time to either the 1920s or 1970s. The fashion of the time was just impeccable, and I would love to see how Boston was back then!

We are really going to miss Courtney as part of our team, so on behalf of Her Campus Emerson, we hope to send her off in the one way we know how: with this article!  Courtney, we wish you the very best of luck in everything you do, congratulations on your graduation!
