On September 20 in New York City, United Nations Women’s Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson gave a speech about the inequality women face every day across the globe. She listed off the significant ages that she personally experienced gender bias for her and her male friends as well as included a broader context.

The campaign is called “HeForShe” and aims to have men and boys advocate for the ending of inequalities that women and girls face globally. Watson stressed the importance of male involvement in promoting women’s rights. To end gender inequality, everyone needs to be involved. So, she formally invited men to the conversation.

Many celebrities, men and women, are utilizing the hashtag #HeForShe. Prince Harry, Harry Styles, Logan Lerman, and over 150,00 men have already joined the campaign. Sophia Bush, already a major women’s rights activist, tweeted her allegiance.

The campaign can be followed on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Youtube.
