4 Ways to Stay Relaxed During Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

No matter how long you’ve been in college, finals are a stressful time of year for all of us. Final exams, projects and papers take so much out of us, especially when winter break is so close. Even though we have something to look forward to, we must get through what is right in front of us. Here’s how.

1. Work out

Working out is a great way to relieve stress. Physical activity allows you to release tension and stimulates your brain so you’re able to study when you’re good and ready. I exercise every week, and after each workout, I feel very relaxed.

2. Take a coffee break

If you like coffee, finals are a definite excuse to increase your already-high caffeine intake. But, if you have the time, don’t just grab it and go. Sit in the coffee shop and maybe meet a friend––this will make your experience more relaxing and help you feel refreshed when you sit back down to study.

3. Get creative

Finals season is a great time to tap into your creative side, whether it’s drawing, writing, photography or anything else. Making art of any kind is fun, and you don’t have to spend time making a masterpiece to enjoy yourself.

4. Decorate for the holidays

It’s December. The holiday season is upon us. So, a great way for you to de-stress could be decorating your dorm. You can decorate in increments, so it’s a perfect study break. Also, it creates a more fun environment to study in.

Best of luck!
