Springtime is such a beautiful season. Waking up to chirping birds, sipping sweet tea out on the commons while the flowers blossom, seeing students sprawled out on the green grass doing homework, and getting to change your wardrobe from dark and cold, to bright and cheerful – these are a few of my favorite things! If you’ve kept up with the latest New York Fashion Week, you already know that the style trends this upcoming season are to die for. Sit back and relax ladies, it’s about to get real vibrant up in here.

Pastels

“I haven’t met a subject, style or mood yet that can’t be portrayed beautifully in pastel.” – Dave Beckett.

We’re predicting that corals and baby blues will be bringing their A-Game this spring. Mixing pastels is also an option when done properly. A major trend we’ve been seeing on the runways is pastel pants and skirts mixed with feminine white tops. An even better way to make pastels a statement ensemble is by including jewelry that matches the pastel pieces. Pearls are also always a great addition to pastels to keep the look classy. Pair the look with a tan leather purse, and make sure to keep your hair and make-up natural-looking to keep the essence of the outfit light and pure.

Mesh Blouses

Turn sexy see-through blouses into bold and beautiful this spring. Mesh blouses are no longer confined to menswear looking button downs. Now that lace has taken the fashion world by storm, look for mesh blouses that incorporate lace patterns, like blouses with lace shoulders. Be sure to keep the tank top underneath in the same color scheme as the blouse to avoid clashing and keep the outfit ladylike. Look for blouses in colors that are a little darker than pastels, like a nice peachy orange (it is the new black, after all!). Match them with white pants and matching ballet flats for the ultimate spring look.

Floral

Let’s be honest, floral will NEVER go out of style in the springtime. Why not blend in with the gorgeous flowerbeds outside (especially at the most beautiful school in the spring!)? Avoid floral patterns that incorporate shades of black, and opt for brighter colors. Pinks, violets, and peaches are looking extremely promising this season. Floral dresses and maxi skirts are perfect for classes that fall right in the middle of the day when the sun is shining at its peak. Floral pants are great for those early morning and late night classes when it’s a little chillier. Matching earrings to one of the floral colors dresses the ensemble up.

Tulle Skirts

Put away those tight pencil skirts because tulle skirts are back in town! Tulle skirts of both long and short lengths are back in style. These look great paired with simple tops since the tulle already makes such a statement. If you’re going to work fuller tulle, go for longer lengths to make you look leaner. These skirts look great paired with some neutral heels to add height. If you’re on the shorter side like me, I would stick to skirts that are above knee length, or thinner layers of tulle. Stick to the same springy colors and whites as previously mentioned, and long necklaces are a great addition. We’re really loving the trend of high -waisted tulle skirts paired with crop tops, so don’t be afraid to wear it in different ways!

Socks & Heels

Now here’s a trend that I personally didn’t see coming, but am completely infatuated with. Heels paired with socks calf, knee, and thigh length (once again, this depends on your leg height) are something you should definitely try to pull off! Closed toe heels are preferred, and socks can be different textures and patterns depending on the rest of the outfit. Pair this look with a micro mini, or high-waisted shorts for the full effect. You can also go for a cute solid dress and a blazer; it creates a very feminine and professional look. This trend is extremely versatile occasion-wise. Depending on the rest of the ensemble, you can work it as boho, preppy, chic, or whatever your style is!
