This semester I took the plunge and decided to binge watch the pivotal feel-good, girl power show of the early 2000’s. That’s right- I’m talking about Gilmore Girls. This quintessential coming-of-age tale tells of the ups and downs of Lorelai Gilmore and her namesake daughter, Rory. As a Disney Channel kid myself, I never experienced the joys of watching Rory and her mother grow up together, however thanks to the blessing that is Netflix, I can proudly say that I have binged the entire series. I know, it’s practically a crime that I had never seen this shining beacon of television entertainment, but now I offer you a rare perspective: one college girl’s honest first impression. As most of you know, there are usually 22 episodes per season and as such, I will offer you 22 of my most brutally honest takeaways from Gilmore Girls.
- I wish Lorelai was my mom.
- I’m quickly realizing that coffee is the cure all for anything going wrong or right in life.
- Why does Rory need to go to Chilton? I went to public school and I turned out fine. Right?
- I don’t like Dean.
- Wait…Are Lane’s parents allowed to ship her off to Korea? Should someone be getting involved here?
- Emily Gilmore is a scary pterodactyl woman.
- Team Jess.
- Dean needs to chill and let Rory go to Harvard. Do you, girl.
- If I had a friend like Paris, I think I would’ve had five mental breakdowns by now.
- This early 2000’s style is really speaking to me; skinny scarves and graphic t shirts need to make a come back.
- Casual tour of Europe as a graduation present. That totally happens right?
- Why is everyone getting married? Everyone in this town seems like they’re in a hugh rush.
- I really don’t like dean.
- How does Rory have time for all of these boys?
- I’m getting so hungry watching them eat all the time, I need snacks.
- Do people actually like the Huntzberger’s actually exist? This is a pressing question.
- If someone could hook me up with a post grad job in London that’d be great thanks!
- Keeping Up With The Kims would make a great reality show.
- I totally belong in this family; the coffee, the junk food, the watching movies all the time. Adopt me please!
- I’m getting way too wrapped up in this fictional world.
- This is the greatest show!
- Wait…What am I supposed to do with my life now?
