With the first day of fall in sight, it is time to break out our favorite pants, boots, and scarves. After a long, hot summer, I think it is safe to say we are all ready for a change in the weather and are welcome to a cool breeze and layers.

Two weeks of real class has passed, and it seems as if every girl has adjusted to her new routine and new schedule. Friend groups are forming, club sports teams are holding their first practices, and tests and quizzes are appearing on our weekly calendars. As everything begins to fall in place, we can now focus on our wardrobes and dressing in style this semester. A goal for this year is dressing with confidence and wearing clothes that show our personalities and who we are. Just as we went into the academic year head on, we should also start this year confident in what we are wearing day to day.

Now lets talk current trends. After last weeks, New York Fashion Week, there is lots of talk of new styles and looks. Models took the runway confident, happy, and excited to show the latest pieces on the market. As fashion gurus and designers rehash the event, there are many questions circulating style blogs and other news sources. What is the most wanted item of the season? What should everyone be wearing? What is a new trend? Off the shoulder tops, tan colors, and bomber jackets. I repeat, off the shoulder tops, tan colors, and bomber jackets. Though that sounds top heavy only focusing on shirts and jackets, there is no doubt that festive patterned pants, plaid skirts, and hip shoes are still in the mix season after season. You cannot go wrong with leather boots or small suede booties with your favorite pair of ripped jeans. So as you begin to sort through your summer t-shirt and shorts and pull out those layers and heavier coats, be confident in yourself and your own unique style and do not forget to use New York Fashion Week as inspiration!
