Campus Celeb: Jackie Pascale – Nightly News

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Elon chapter.

Jackie Pascale was born and raised right outside of Philadelphia. Upon meeting her you’ll immediately notice her contagious smile and strong spirit. During the day, you’ll find her in or around the communications school, or you can always tune in to Elon Local News to see her doing what she does best.

Age: 19

Zodiac Sign: Libra

Major: Broadcast Journalism Major, Political Science Minor

Describe yourself in three words: Hardworking, Outgoing, and Fun-loving

If you could spend the day with one celebrity dead or alive who would it be? Zac Efron, for obvious reasons.

What is your pet peeve? I hate condescending people.

What’s your favorite thing about Elon? My favorite thing about Elon is that I can meet a new person everyday and strike up a conversation with them.  I like how no one is locked into specific groups and cliques. Everyone is part of one community.

What are you involved in on campus? I am a reporter and an evening anchor for Elon Local News. I am also a communications fellow, a member of intervarsity, I am that girl and Zeta Tau Alpha. I also participated in new student orientation this year.

What drives your passion for broadcast journalism? I think that the news is very negative a lot of the time and for this reason a lot of people do not watch the news, it turns people away. I believe that if I can get more people to watch the news, I can show them the good in the world.

Where do you see yourself in five years? Probably reporting at local news station – I don’t know where exactly because there’s news everywhere!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why? I really want to go to and explore Israel. It has a lot of rich history, diversity in religious cultures and beautiful, natural landscapes and beaches. I think it would be an enriching experience traveling there – Should I have just said Florence because pasta and cute Italian boys?
