Do you love music? Want to dance the day and night away? If the answers to these questions are yes, then you need to check out Bonnaroo. The Woodstock of the current generation, Bonnaroo offers people of all ages the
chance to sweat it out in the sun and dust of Tennessee for the opportunity to see some of the greatest artists touring. In past years the artists have run from GirlTalk to Springsteen, Eminem to Dave Matthews, Deadmau5 to The Allman Brothers Band. Needless to say, there is something for everyone, and not just one something, but days and nights full of artists who give concerts of a lifetime.
This is not to say that everything about the Roo is beautiful and life changing (although the experience is). Situated on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tenn., Bonnaroo goers have been offered the chance to sweat and get covered in dirt since 2002. This year the dates are June 7-10.
You have two options for living, rent an RV or pack a tent. Unless you’re going with a group of people, an RV is essentially out of the equation because of cost. However, if you can afford it this is the way to go (do
notunderestimate your desire for a clean shower). The more traditional college approach is to camp out. Pack some coolers and your skimpiest pajamas and you’re in for a great time. Don’t forget a flag to mark your campsite so you can find it coming home at night.
This year’s headliners are Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Phish. Other must-sees include Skrillex, Umphrey’s McGee, Mogwai, The Kooks and Childish Gambino. To see the rest of the long lineup, head to the official Bonnaroo page. You can also buy tickets on the official page, if you haven’t already, although I would hurry up and do it, as levels 1-4 have already completely sold out. You can also upgrade your current ticket for a fee.
One last word of advice: Keep in mind that when you enter the campground your RV or car will be searched by the security team. Do with that what you will, but you have been warned. That being said, when at Bonnaroo it is your job to make the most of it. Ride the Ferris Wheel, sleep under a tree at This Tent, run through the Centeroo fountain, check out the Bobble Heads and don’t forget The Silent Disco.
