Still Dreaming About Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2017

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DU chapter.

The Spring 2017 Couture Fashion Week happened and it was as brilliant, breath-taking, and fairytale-esque as ever. Without fail, these shows transported us to a magical world constructed by twede, silk, suede, and hand-placed bead work. We are still gawking over the looks from last week’s Parisian runways and wishing for ways to bring the runway to the residence halls.

Karl Lagerfeld gave us looks that seemed to bring the best of Princess Kate, Peggy Olson, and Zelda Fitzgerald to the Chanel runway with glam, retro-chic ensembles characterized by sharp lines, muted color, and just the right amount of sparkle.

On the Ellie Saab runway, we saw a conglomerate of modern gowns that played with nude hues and sheer fabrics… Never has sheer been so sleek and so classy.

Valentino’s collection gave us more of those sheer fabrics, but complimented them with layers of texture and contrasting hemlines to bring us timeless elegance and captivating silhouettes.

As college women ballin’ on a budget, finding the space, time, and funding for the pieces that make our jaws drop on the runway is close to impossible. But a girl can dream, right? She can dream and she can take small notes of the fashion shows away with her… Channel your Ellie Saab with accessories that bring on the glitter and glitz when you go out with the girls this weekend, play with sheer layers on your next date night, and channel your inner Peggy Olson during your next presentation at DBC.
