Miranda Toci, Panhellenic Delegate for Phi Mu Fraternity

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

Miranda Toci, a sophomore nursing major from Haddonfield, New Jersey, serves as the panhellenic delegate for Phi Mu Fraternity. Her devotion to Phi Mu and her ability to connect the sorority with the rest of Drexel’s Greek life allows her to thrive in this position. She also has a dedication to saving lives as a nurse.

Miranda decided to join Greek life when she was a freshman. She followed the wise words of her older brother, who said that going Greek had changed his life, and she decided to go through recruitment. “I felt comfortable and at home, as if I had already known the girls,” she said of her experience walking into Phi Mu. She shared Phi Mui  values, and wanted to help support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, their national philanthropy, which means a lot to Miranda as a nursing major.

After spending a year falling in love with Phi Mu, Miranda decided to run for a spot on the executive board. She chose the position of panhellenic delegate. In this position, she is able to work as the liaison between Phi Mu and the Panhellenic Council, which oversees all of the sororities at Drexel. She chose this job because she believes that no matter what chapter of a sorority or fraternity you are in, everybody in Greek life should always be there for each other. Another thing that Miranda does is facilitate with the rest of the sororities so that they can all reach their goals.

Miranda said that the ability to meet people from all of Greek life is the best part of her position as panhellenic delegate and member of Phi Mu. She is able to meet these people, learn from them, and bring back what she learns to Phi Mu.

When asked how being Panhellenic Delegate affected her time at Drexel, Miranda said it “provides [her] the opportunity to be involved in something that is bigger than [her]self”. She is able to be part of an organization that builds women up and promotes sisterhood, pursues the interests of women, create leaders, and has “a purpose founded on the principles of love, honor, and truth.”

Along with being a member of Phi Mu, Miranda enjoys athletics. She used to play varsity soccer and varsity lacrosse in high school. She continued with soccer in college by playing on the Phi Mu intramural soccer team. She also joined the Phi Mu flag football team, and helped her team win the Panhellenic Council Flag Football championship during her freshman year of college.

Miranda is also a member of the Student Nurses’ Association of Pennsylvania and Drexel University Student Nurses’ Association. She enjoys volunteering at hospitals in her free time.

After she graduates, Miranda plans to take her bachelor of science in nursing and work at a hospital for a year or two. Then, she’ll apply to graduate school and study to become a nurse practitioner. Being a part of Phi Mu has influenced her outlook on working with children, and she now wants to work at one of the branches of Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.

Miranda is helping shape the present and the future of Phi Mu Fraternity as the panhellenic delegate, and soon she will be saving lives as a nurse! Her Campus at Drexel is excited to see what great things this awesome woman will be doing in the future!
