Ah fall. The blended aroma of dead leaves and mid-term casualties. Don’t despair! (And don’t turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms like putting pumpkin into literally everything you ingest). Instead; take a break, take a breath, and try any of these nearby fun attractions!
Close to Campus:
- Create-A-Palooza (11 East High Street): Make some fall crafts that will spice up your dorm room with more than just seasonal coffee cups
- Use this as an excuse to raid Michael’s for fall-esque things to make door/dorm decorations
- Take a break from studying for midterms and go for a walk at the LeTort Spring Run Nature Trail
When you can convince your friend with a car to take you out:
- Paulus Orchard: Apple-picking, pumpkin picking, corn maze, and more
- Take advantage of the erratic weather and go for a hike! There are easy to difficult trails including: Sunset Rocks Trail, Waggoner’s Gap Trail, and Pole Steeple
- Fall Furnace Fest at Pine Grove State Park (October 21-22): From 11am to 7pm on Saturday and noon to 5pm on Sunday take a trip to enjoy food, craft vendors, live music, hayrides, pumpkin carving, and the “Hairy Hand” Pumpkin Float on Fuller Lake
