Guide to Balancing Work, School, and Extracurriculars

Do you feel flushed with the amount of workload and assignments that is given?  Long hours at your job and days that feel they are never ending?  Participating in organizations that you enjoy but have other things to also balance?  Well here are a few tips to help you balance everything between fun, school, and work:

1. Work Ahead

Try to get assignments done early therefore you have more free time to do other activities.

2. Have your friends help you with homework

Another good thing about making friends is sometimes having opposite strengths and weaknesses.  Therefore you can all help each other with work while still hanging out.

3. Naps

Many college students take naps therefore you are not alone, just a 5-10 minute nap will help refuel a little but 20-30 is recommended by doctors.

4.  Day for Yourself

Try taking a few hours from the week or a day specifically to focus on you.  It may sound hard at first, but it will happen if you make it.

5. Weekends

Saturday and Sunday are crucial, since you can work on assignments in the daytime and have fun at night.

6. Class schedule

Create your schedule with breaks between classes or have a haul of classes specifically on certain days if possible.  Therefore you can have a fewer classes one day or a free day.

7. Lunch and Dinner

Eating is a great time to be social with your friends along with getting refueled for the rest of your day and/or night.

8. SKYPE or FACETIME!

Talk with long distance friends and maybe they can help you with your assignments.  This also helps when you need to discuss group work, partner assignments, or conference calls.
