Love Your Melon, Not Just a Trend, But a Life Saver

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DePaul chapter.

In 2012, two college students at The University of St. Thomas in St. Paul Minnesota created Love Your Melon in an entrepreneur class. It all began with one mission in mind: putting a hat on every child battling cancer.

Flash forward to today: Love Your Melon has donated over 110,000 hats as well as donated  $2,678,259 to non profits. 50% of profit from Love Your Melon sales is given to Love Your Melon’s non profit partners. Those partners include: Be The Match, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Make A Wish, The Ronald McDonald House and more.

In all 50 states, there are Love Your Melon campus crews. A total of 840 crews and 13,500 members: with my crew being one of them.

Here at DePaul University, we have our Love Your Melon campus crew. Our crew has spent quite a few days with different children battling different types of cancers. We work together as a tight knit crew of friends to ensure a perfect day based on what the children like; so they can go at least one day without having to worry about their struggle.

Follow us on social media @dpulymcrew to learn more about our crew and to see which celebrities have joined our crew as well to help us spread our mission.
