The popular and beautiful Bianca Stratford (Larisa Oleynik) can’t date anyone unless her older sister, Kat (Julia Stiles), is also dating someone. Cameron (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who is in love with Bianca, helps to set up Kat with the infamous and rebellious Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) so he can have the chance to date Bianca. This is one of the cutest and most heart warming films out there. It is bound to pick up your mood and put a huge grin on your face. There is also the beautiful Heath Ledger who can instantly make you go gooey inside.

Cool Runnings (1993)
Based on the true story of a bobsledding team from Jamaica, who decided to enter the Winter Olympics, with the help of the disgraced coach Irv Blitzer (John Candy). This is a wonderful story about friendship and breaking the norms set by society. This movie will have you cry laughing throughout and make you feel empowered after. It also has one of the best quotes in it that I live by!

Clueless
Rich, popular and completely clueless Cher (Alicia Silverstone) decides to take the new girl Tai under her pampered wing and give her a full blown make over. When Tai surpasses her teacher, jealousy and heart break ensue. This movie is centred around finding yourself and friendship. It is one of those films you can’t help but smile and laugh at.

Easy A
Olive (Emma Stone) decides to lie to her best friend about the “wild” weekend she had which leads to rumours being spread about the weekend throughout the entire school. This leads her to embrace the scarlet A that has been branded on her reputation. This movie is cute and funny all at the same time. It will have you laughing and relating to the character like no other.

Shawshank Redemption
A banker, Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) was convicted of the murder of his wife and her lover despite his plea for not guilty. He is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Prison in Maine. After Ellis ‘Red’ Redding (Morgan Freeman) loses a bet that Andy wouldn’t last the night in prison he realises that Andy is stronger and smarter than he frist thoughts. He decides to befriend Andy to help him survive in prison. This movie may not seem like the best pick me up movie but whenever I watch it I always end up with a smile on my face at the end. I’m pretty sure it’s because Morgan Freeman’s voice would make anyone happy

Legally blonde
When Elle Woods’ boyfriend breaks up with her because she is not the right girl that his family would approve of she decides to attend Harvard to win him back. She goes into law and slowly finds herself and her love for law. This movie is the ultimate pick me up movie. It’s the movie that will have you laughing along the whole movie. It will make you feel empowered and oddly make you want to take up law.

Erin Brockovich
This movie is based on a true story about the largest settlement ever paid in a direct lawsuit. Erin Brockovich (Julia Roberts) starts to investigate a case against Pacific Gas and Electric which leads to some disturbing truths. This is also not a movie that you would initially consider for a pick-me-up movie but you are constantly routing for Erin and towards the end you just feel so happy that justice was served.

Good Will Hunting
Will Hunting (Matt Damon), a complete genius, works as a janitor part time at Massachusetts Institute of Technology as part of deferred prosecution. When one of the maths professors, Professor Gerald Lambeau (Stellan skarsgård) posts one of the hardest mathematic question on a black board outside his class room Will solves it perfectly in a matter of days. This leads Lambeau to mentor Will and help him to get a better life for himself. This movie is beautiful. It shows us that you can turn your life around no matter what circumstances you have. It also has an amazing performance from Robin Williams that makes you feel good about yourself.

The Duff
When Bianca (Mae Whitman) was labelled as the DUFF (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) by the schools heartthrob Wesley (Robbie Amell) she decides to recruit his help to make her less DUFF. This movie is the ultimate high school love story. It will make you think that you’re the Duff of your best friend group and actually want to be it if it means we all get a Robbie Amell at the end of it.

Disney Movies
Okay so this one is just grouping together all Disney movies because, let’s be honest, all Disney movies make you feel good inside. Some of my personal favourites are Moana, Pocahontas and Tangled. These movies make me laugh and honestly have the best songs in them.
