Campus Profile: Grant McClure

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Davidson chapter.

Full Name: Grant Robert McClure

Nicknames: G Money, Bam Bam (his house name), G Easy, White Chocolate, Grande (from abroad)

He’s on the far left…

Year: 2017

Major and Minor: Math, Computer Science (Yes, he’s a dork an intellectual)

PCC affiliation: SPE (He’s the newly elected President… and as Prez is most excited for *drum roll please* “liability.”)

A fraternity president with America accessories?  #perfect

Zodiac sign: “Um Pisces?  That’s one right?  Like the fish one?”

Hometown: Arlington, VA

Favorite book: (He was the first person I’ve talked to in a long time to actually have one at the ready!) “I’d have to say The Brief and Wonderous life of Oscar Wao, but also The Five People You Meet In Heaven.”

Favorite TV show: Game of Thrones

Favorite movie: “Ok, well Lion King is far and away number one, but anything with Will Farell I love and also anything Dark Knight.”

Favorite artist (of the music variety): “Of all time…? I like a lot of rap and country, probably Kanye for rap and Zac Brown Band for country…. But right now there’s nothing better out than Juystin Beiber’s album.  I firmly believe there’re two types of people, people who love his new album and people who are lying.”

Relationship Status: When I asked, Grant said “Single,” and I (the intrepid interviewer) followed up with “and ready to mingle?”  Grant is indeed ready to mingle ladies…and I’d recommend hopping on that opportunity sooner rather than later.

Most interesting thing you do at Davidson?: “Cat Stats,” which for those of you who don’t know is “analytics for the basketball team.”  He is a self-proclaimed “huge sports fan” soto have opportunity to combine something I love with something I learned in class is pretty cool.”  He’s also, though he didn’t say this, really pretty good at actually playing the game as well.

Abroad:

“I went to Copenhagen, which was really great… and kind of typical SigEp” *chuckles*  I asked him about what his favorite and least favorite memories were and he asked if he could just say one for both of them: “falling in love.”

Apparently he thought he was going to get away with just that little tidbit, but I managed to pry out the following information: “She was from Hawaii…and Madi, every single thing about her was just perfect.”  Not with a heavy sigh, but with a rueful grin, he finished up the story with “I guess it just wasn’t meant to be.”

“I also really enjoyed my week in Spain, travelling with some of my friends and being able to hang out in places so different from Davidson and where we normally are, that was pretty unreal.”

Biggest pet peeve: “I’m a pretty easy going guy, nothing really grinds my gears… I guess this isn’t a pet peeve, it’s kind of bigger than that but like a lack of honesty really bothers me.”

Celebrity Crush: Emma Watson

Man Crush: John Stamos (you and me and the rest of the world buddy).

Hogwarts House: I really just don’t want to be cliche, but I really have to say it, and I’m serious…it would be Gryffindor because loyalty is just such a huge thing for me.”

Ideal date: “I think, being honest… with my love of sports, it would be summer and we’d go to a Nationals’ game… since baseball isn’t interesting ALL THE TIME, there would be a decent amount of time to eat, converse, and hang out.”  OK, you know he’s a good guy when he knows to use “converse” and not “conversate,” which is, you know, not a word… and when he’d trust you enough to take you to his favorite baseball team’s game– that’s commitment.

Dream job: Firefighter, astronaut, NBA player

Princess: Nala (Yaaaaaas)

If you were an animal: “Umm, I’d be a monkey because they’re fun, and the word on the street is they’re easygoing… well and my favorite emojis are the monkey emojis.”
