CUA’s Newest’s Dining Spot: Murphys Grill

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CUA chapter.

A few weeks ago, Murphy’s Grill finally opened its doors to the CUA community. I was excited because there was FINALLY a new dining restaurant on campus. I was beyond tired of eating in the upstairs student restaurant or the Downstairs food court( even though Chic Fil La is down there). I desperately wanted something different. When I found out that we were able to use our Meal Swipes and Dining Dollars there, I was sold! On the day it opened I needed to go there to see how the food tasted because I had heard rave reviews about the Menu.

When my friends and I arrived we were greeted with super sweet hostesses. My friends and I quickly told them that we would be using our meal swipes as our payment option. Now here is what I didn’t know, when we are using that option we have a very limited selection of entrees to choose from. So I had asked to see the regular menu, just in case I wasn’t feeling what was on the “Meal Exchange” menu. So I read the regular menu and yes, it looked good. But the way my bank account was set up I decided to opt out and go the “Meal Exchange”. The Menu included A Murphy’s Burger(Which is your regular gourmet cheeseburgers), Garden Burger( A Vegetarian Burger), A Pita Platter and A Caesar Salad. I decided to order the Murphy’s Burger Medium well (because you know I’m classy).

Our food didn’t take forever to come out to us, which was great. And thankfully my burger came with a side of steak fries(YASSSSSS!!!) Let I really do love burgers. I don teat them often but when I do I go to specific restaurants where I know the burgers are good. I was a little nervous trying this nervous but I must say I was very impressed. The burger itself was good, the Cheddar cheese was good but my only con was that there was that the top bun of the burger was way too thick. The bun to burger ratio is a hard concept to execute properly, I get it. But it was just hard getting the food down my throat with so much bread on the top bun. The fries were very good, I must say.

I do wish there were a larger variety of option for those who decide to use their Meal Swipes or Dining dollars. Hopefully that can be implemented soon. Overall, I do think Murphy’s Grill has got some really tasty eats on their menu. It’s a totally different atmosphere, a real sit down restaurant feel. I don’t see it being super popular among students during day to day occurrences because of this. But this place will definitely be packed during alumni weekend, parent’s weekends and any other big social wide events on campus.
