Celebrating Birthdays in College!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Conn Coll chapter.

Birthday celebrations are an opportunity to show our friends just how much we care about them on their special day. They allow for us to give all our attention and festivities to the birthday girl and offer even more of a reason to party. Whether it’s your big day or not, everybody loves a celebration. Being on a college campus can make a big hooray a bit challenging (especially for the struggling freshman without cars!). But even the smallest gestures can make a birthday seem a hundred times better. Here are a few ideas on how to celebrate when at school!

Awkward weekday birthdays can be tough, but a nice lunch date to Muddy Waters or Washington Street Coffee House is a sure way to make the day seem less dreary between class and homework. Even if you can’t make it off campus, avoid Harris and order in! Splurging on food for the big day is worth it.

And who doesn’t love cake?! You can make the trip to a bakery or you can have Harris make one for you! If you special order one they will happily make you a beautifully decorated cake and it’s delicious too (we speak from experience).

Everyone loves a surprise! Decorate the birthday girl’s room while she’s in class with balloons, streamers, banners… you know, the usual birthday paraphernalia.

If it’s the BIG 2-1 you can always pop some champagne! Make sure to make it fun and festive– it’s a big day to celebrate! Cheers!

The only way to a birthday girl’s heart is through her stomach. Bundle up her favorite foods and candies. A little gift bag full of goodies is a sure way to a satisfy the b-day girl.

Whatever you do be sure to make her feel like Queen Bey for her big day!
