Welcome Back Tigers!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

For upperclassmen, they’ve waited four months; for freshmen, they’ve waited 18 years. Finally, after all that waiting, we are back home in Tigertown, and we couldn’t be more excited!

An entire semester of adventures awaits us, and we’ve only just gotten started. The past few days have been filled with move-in, the Welcome Back Festival, Tiger Prowl, Freshman Welcome, and more! And all have reminded us why we fell in love with this amazing university in the first place. The Clemson family is strong, real, and growing. The 4,000+ freshmen have been properly welcomed with wide-open arms. Truly, what could be better?

It’s a new year and that comes with a fresh start! We have a clean slate this year. So, tigers, get going and get involved! Devote your time to your classes, extracurriculars, and social schedules. Find out what works for you and what makes you the happiest. It’ll help you get the most out of your college experience. This is the time in your life to try new things and to meet new people. Take advantage of campus resources and everything Clemson has to offer! Remember that the greatest learning in college happens outside of the classroom. We grow as students and as people in college. It’s an overwhelming task, but the past 18 years of our lives have prepared us for it. Living on your own can be scary, but it’s also extremely rewarding because you realize for the first time that you can. Being independent is a great feeling and one of the first lessons you learn in college.

That being said, it’s also important to remember that our first job is to be a Clemson student. As my dad always says, “Plan your work and work your plan.” And, it’s true! You will find yourself happier and healthier if you manage your time wisely. Not only will it cause you less stress, but it will also ensure that you will be able to accomplish all you want to with the time you have in college. And let’s be honest, it’s a valuable life lesson to learn that will carry you throughout your entire professional and personal career.

The fall semester is one of the most exciting times in college. Everything is new, and so much is going on throughout Clemson’s campus. It’s the perfect time to get out of your comfort zone and to experience all that Clemson offers. We go to the best university after all!

In closing, Her Campus Clemson wants to extend the warmest welcome back to our fellow tigers! We are excited for this year, and we wish you a happy and healthy fall semester! HXCO
