If the Cast of Friends Were Thanksgiving Food

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

Chandler Bing would be the green bean casserole.  To quote Joey Tribbiani, “Chandler is a complex fellow.”  His personality is layered, or complex, much like a traditional green bean casserole.  He is warm and friendly in many episodes, much like the hot green bean part of the casserole.  But nothing is better than when you take a bite, and feel the satisfying crunch of the fried onions, comparable to Chandler’s sense of humor.  His jokes come out of nowhere, but they are the underlying treasures of the show.

Phoebe Buffay is the stuffing.  There are so many types of stuffing.  You can make it with white bread, corn bread, rye bread, sourdough bread, wheat bread, or whatever other kind of bread you can get your hands on.  Similar to the stuffing, there are so many types of Phoebe.  We have serious Phoebe, who agrees to be the surrogate for her brother’s triplets.  But there is also the Phoebe who sings about the odor of cats.

Ross Geller reminds me of cranberry sauce.  Very few people enjoy cranberry sauce.  However, there are a select few who could eat the entire can.  It perplexes me that Ross tends to be many fans’ least favorite “friend” because he is my long-time favorite, but as for the cranberry sauce lovers on Thanksgiving, that just means there’s more Ross for me to love.

Rachel Green symbolizes the dinner rolls.  There is hardly anything more satisfying than a warm, soft roll just removed from the oven.  When Rachel is happy, she is a fresh dinner roll.  But after a dinner roll has been unattended for some time, it becomes cold and crunchy to a point of no return.  Don’t get on Rachel’s bad side, or else you will be a victim of her “crunch” or wrath, and forced to argue that “you were on a break” for the rest of your existence.

Monica Geller would be the pumpkin pie.  The undoubtedly smooth top of the pie before its cut symbolizes her perfectionism shown in almost every episode.  After taking a bite of the pie, there is a sweet sensation with a touch of spice, just like Monica.

Last but not least, Joey Tribbiani is the main event.  Because he is an actor, he loves to be the center of attention and his presence is always known.  Unless Thanksgiving has been ruined for you in your childhood much like it has for Chandler Bing, you don’t have Thanksgiving without turkey.
