Campus Weekend Boredom

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

Campus Weekend Boredom

So, you’ve been in Clemson for about a month and a half now since you got back from Winter Break. During the week it’s all about class and homework, but then the weekend arrives, and you face the important question: What are your plans? You’ve dragged your friends (or been dragged) to enough frat parties that they’re not fun anymore. Downtown has lost its appeal. You’ve watched an entire series on Netflix (or two, or three…) and enough movies to last you a lifetime. You’ve used every form of social media possible to procrastinate your homework, and posted far too many selfies on your Snap story about how lame your life is. Now you’re stuck wondering: what is there left to do? While Clemson has a lot to offer on the weekends, sometimes it would be nice to try something new. Here are a few things you might want to try if you’ve caught a case of Campus Weekend Boredom:

1) Camping!

Last weekend, some of my friends and I loaded up some cars, and went to Table Rock State Park. We spent two nights camping and spent all of Saturday hiking to the top of Table Rock. It was a great weekend and made for some great stories. It was refreshing to get off campus and just have fun with friends! There are about a dozen parks and hiking trails close by, all you have to do is look. Ladies, I know some of you might not see yourself as very adventurous but I promise you the dirt and sweat is worth it!

2) Check out CLEMSON LiVE

CLEMSON LiVE is always hosting something on the weekends! Whether it is a trivia night, movies, bowling, or even a Shag like they hosted just last week, there’s always something happening! Grab a friend or come and make some new ones! There’s often food and free stuff. It’s a cheap and easy way to get out of the dorm room!

3) Go to Greenville!

I know this isn’t the easiest thing for people that don’t have a car, but it’s definitely a nice day trip! I visited with my family, and I could have spent all day in Falls Park alone! There are cute shops, restaurants, and it’s a nice change of scenery. Less than an hour away, a short road trip and adventure awaits.

4) Sporting Events

While basketball is almost finishing up, baseball season is just beginning! Check out the Clemson Athletics website for the schedules and cheer your Tigers on! If there aren’t any games, don’t forget Clemson has some awesome club sports as well. Check out Clemson’s club sports website and I’m sure club athletes would love to hear some Tiger fans cheering them on as well!

These are just a few ideas to help cure your Campus Weekend Boredom. While Clemson is a smaller college town, there is always something to do, and with good friends you can make the most of anything and have a great time!
