In a world of 15+ credit hours, internships, student organizations, capstone classes, practice, co-ops, Greek life, friendships, family and everything else, it is SO easy to get caught up in the scheme of things. But the important thing is to remember that organic, real relationships and creativity is most important. We need to engage with our friends, put down our phone, take a look around our surroundings and call our families. Take a step back and think about what you are doing. Enjoy some of the best years of your life; college. Here are some tips to slow down the craziness of your busy schedule:
1) Schedule a coffee date
Taking time to sit down and have a delicious cup of coffee while having an organic conversation is delightful. Coffee shops are special places. There is so much creative thinking, problem solving, arguments, agreements, sharing, and emotions all over the smell of delicious coffee.
2) Explore downtown
We are at such an advantage to live by our beautiful downtown, Cincinnati. The Queen City is full of art and wonder. To de-stress, take a walk downtown and open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds us.
3) Read a book
Take some time to escape your world and dive into another. Books spark creativity and use your imagination more than any social media app would. Put down your work and pick up a book.
4) Take a fun class at the rec
Zumba anyone? Or maybe yoga? Try Spinning? There are tons of cool workout classes offered at the rec! Instead of doing a monotonous workout, try something fun. Not only will this get your mind off of your to-do list, but you will also be getting fit and strong!
5) Have a GNO (girls night out)
We all need our gal pals. Order a pizza, stay in, relax and chat about the latest gossip. Spending quality time with your friends will keep you grounded.
6) Get outside
Fresh air is sometimes the best medicine. As we go into spring, put away your phone and take a hike outside. We live in a beautiful world. Opening our eyes to the virtues of this earth will take you to places you have never been before.
7) Go with the flow
As a “work-a-holic” it can be extremely stressful trying to go with the flow. Make this a challenge for yourself. Because in the end, what is meant to be, will be.
