Hometown and what you love about it:
Pittsburgh! This city has such a large art scene, which is something that I don’t think a lot of cities have, at least not as much as we do here.

Areas of study and why you chose them:
I’m an Arts Management major, and I’m looking to become a Graphic Design minor soon. Art is pretty much all I know, and I’m determined to make a name for myself in it, but I also think it is important to know how to manage yourself as an artist.

Why did you choose Chatham?
I chose Chatham because I struggled with my grades throughout all of high school due to large classes and the lack of personal attention from the teacher. The classes here are the perfect size for me, and I get enough focus from the professors to enable my success, which feels really good. Plus, the campus itself is just beautiful!

Suppose you can assign one book for every member of the Chatham community to read. Which one do you pick and why?
To Kill A Mockingbird has to be my favorite book I’ve read. I read it in eighth grade and somehow it still sticks with me, it’s definitely a classic for a reason.

You have a friend coming to visit Pittsburgh, and you can only take them to do one thing. What do you choose and why?
A concert! I LOVE going to concerts, and Pittsburgh has a variety of different concert venues, which allows a variety of bands to come here on their tours.

If a prospective student asked you to name one thing to do while they’re visiting campus, what would you tell them?
Go to Café Rachel and try one of their monthly specials, they’re always pretty awesome.

What is the most unexpected course you’ve taken at Chatham? What did you enjoy most about it?
As an art major, science is not really my thing. In the past I’ve been good at it, but I never really enjoyed it. This semester I took Applied Human Biology with Dr. Edenborn and it’s one of the best science classes I’ve ever taken. It’s set up different than the typical science course, and Dr. Edenborn is great at helping you succeed!

Imagine you can pick one TV or movie character to be your best friend for life. Who do you pick and why?
Probably Kiki from Kiki’s Delivery Service. Ever since I was little, I always either wanted to be her or be friends with her. Kiki, or those cool goth witches that were a girl band from Scooby Doo and the Witch’s Ghost, they were pretty awesome.

What was your Halloween costume this year?
This is slightly embarrassing, but [I went] as 2006-era Ryan Ross from Panic! At The Disco. He wore this cool makeup and elaborate vest with a bunch of fake roses glued onto it. My friend [came] to visit that day and [she dressed] as Brendon Urie (from Panic!) from the I Write Sins Not Tragedies music video, so it’s sort of a pairs costume.

If you grew up celebrating Halloween, what was your favorite childhood costume?
I was Kim Possible at one point! That was definitely my favorite, because you couldn’t go out and buy a Kim costume, we had to shop around and find clothes that would work (and a wig).

What do you love most about Halloween?
Halloween movies and decorations! Anytime Hocus Pocus is on, I will drop everything and watch it, that movie holds a special place in my heart.

If you were to go trick-or-treating, which candy would you definitely hope to get?
Sour Patch Kids or Cow Tails.

Childhood Dream Job:
An artist

Current Dream Job:
A tour manager for bands, with graphic design on the side

What do you love most about being a Chatham student?
There’s no judgement on this campus, whether you’re part of the LGBTQA community, you dress a little different than everyone else, or you have purple hair, everyone values who you are as a person more than the superficial things.
