This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chatham chapter.

Kaylee LaPosta

Year: 2016

Area of Study and How You Chose It:

Communications. I love working with people, talking to them and learning their stories. I want to share their inspiration with others.

Your Hometown and What You Love Most About It:

Weirton, WV. I love the friendly atmosphere and the pride for the city’s history.

If you could assign everyone at Chatham one book to read, what would it be?

To Kill a Mockingbird. It is my absolute favorite book. I love the story and the message that comes from it!

Why did you choose Chatham?

I chose Chatham because I fell in love with the campus. It is so beautiful every single day. The people were and continue to be nice and supportive. I felt like I was in the right place when I visited the campus.

Suppose you can pick any musician or band to perform at your next birthday party. Who do you choose?

It would most definitely be Justin Timberlake. I have been a huge fan of him ever since I was little. He is such a class act performer, and his voice is incredible.

You have a friend coming to Pittsburgh for the day, and you can only take them to do one thing. Where do you go/what do you do?

I would take my friend to a Pirates game. The atmosphere is amazing. Especially after this past season, being at a game really shows Pittsburgh’s pride. And, you can’t beat a bowl of Dippin’ Dots!

Which TV character would you want to be your best friend?

I would choose Mindy Lahiri from The Mindy Project. Her life may be a mess at times, but she always has great life advice and would be there to comfort you in a second.

What was your childhood dream job?

I wanted to be a ballerina more than anything as a child. They looked so beautiful and graceful on stage, and it was magical to see them dance.

What’s your current dream job?

My dream job is to be a sports broadcaster. I love sports, and I think that it would so exciting to go out every day and talk to players about the game, their lives, or whatever topic comes up. We always see glimpses of the players on the television, and talking to them would allow me to dive deeper and truly see them in their element.

What do you love most about being a Chatham student?

I love that I feel empowered. I am not afraid to share my ideas or speak my opinion. I can be the person that I want to be, because I’ve gained confidence throughout my time here.
