Year: First Year

Hometown and what you love about it: Hopewell, PA. It’s a very small rural suburb, which was nice growing up in.

Area of study and how you chose it: I am in the Interior Architecture Program. What really inspired me to choose this major was actually my father. He is a master carpenter and works on historical mansions for a living, so I grew up seeing all this and realized that I really am interested in this as well.

What organizations are you involved with at Chatham/what roles do you have in them?
I am a member of the Artist Collective at Chatham.

What is one thing you hope to learn in 2015?
I actually made it my goal to learn upholstery by the end of the year. It’s an odd thing to want, I know, but just having that skill would be amazing.

Why did you choose Chatham?
It was my #1 school! When I was looking for colleges, I knew I wanted a small college that has a good program in what I want to do, and for it to be in Pittsburgh. I think this was a perfect fit for sure.

What advice do you have for prospective students making their college decision?
Definitely to be involved with the community. The people on campus here are all wonderful and are just a treat to be around. It makes the already great experience even better!

What’s surprised you most about Chatham so far?
How involved and caring the staff are. I really noticed this when I went on Dr. McGreevy’s Wilderness Expedition, I was never asked to ‘talk about my feelings,’ more in my life till then!

Childhood Dream Job: I always wanted to be a bassist in a band!

Current Dream Job: I really want to design the interiors of residential homes, and have my own upholstering business on the side.

If you could only eat at one Pittsburgh restaurant for a full year, which one would you pick and why?
Anything BUT Anderson.

If you could be best friends with any movie character, who would you pick and why?
Ferris Bueller for sure! Driving around Chicago in a 1961 Ferrari, doing whatever we wanted seems like a 10/10.

If you could join the cast of any TV show, which one would you pick and why?
I love The Walking Dead, though I’m VERY sure I’d only last like half an episode before getting wailed on by zombies.

You have a friend visiting Pittsburgh for one day, and you’re planning the itinerary. Where do you take them?
Okay. First We’d have to have brunch at the Grande Concourse–their brunch is out of this world. Then we’d go to the Aviary because birds are awesome, and its just a cool place. After that they would have to try a Primanti Brothers Capitola sandwich—it’s to die for. Next on the agenda, we would to go to PNC Park for a Pirates baseball game. From there, we could make our way to the fountain at the Point. It’s such a pretty sight and you can even see the incline doing its runs on Mt. Washington. There’s so many more places I’d want to go, but that would be a good “first day in Pittsburgh,” sort of deal.

You can live in the world of one book for a day. Which one do you choose and why?
None of them, all of the books I read are like… sad or in a bad place in time where like a post war apocalypse is happening, I don’t wanna be involved with that!
