Normally, we reserve this space for interviews, but we’re making an exception to celebrate some wildly exciting news: Muriel Bowser ’94 is the Mayor-Elect of Washington, D.C.!
A History student at Chatham, Bowser is now making history. Most recently, Bowser served as Ward 4 Councilmember, focusing on increasing the quality of education, ending violence, and advocating for ethical politics. Her commitment to her community earned her a number of major accolades. After announcing her candidacy for the democratic nomination for mayor, Bowser got the Washington Post‘s endorsement.
We’re using this as a space to collect videos and articles honoring Bowser’s achievement. If you spot something we miss, feel free to leave it in the comments!
HC Chatham does not make political endorsements, but our team does cheer on the achievements of our sisters. Our sincere congratulations go out to Muriel Bowser. We hope her success inspires more Chatham women – and more women in general – to enter public policy and change the status quo.
