Campus Cutie: Rourke Donahue ‘17

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

Sophomore Rourke Donahue became one of my first friends at UNC last year and I am so excited for y’all to get to know him! A frequent coffee drinker and Indie film lover, Rourke likes to spend his time in Carrboro. Behind closed doors he loves to bake and watch movies, but don’t let that fool you! He is always up for a new experience with new people. Find out more about my stellar friend here!

Name: Rourke Donahue

Year: Sophomore

Age: 19

Hometown: I went to high school outside of D.C. in Arlington, Virginia, but I have moved 10 times!

Major: Philosophy (I have yet to take a PHIL class so we’ll see how that goes…)

Favorite Music Artist: Right now, SOHN. Favorite of all time, Little Dragon or Phantogram.

Favorite Hobby: Drinking coffee and doodling when I should be paying attention in class.

Best Campus Activity: Being a Social Assistant for Chi Psi Fraternity

Guilty Pleasure: DC-oriented TV shows that remind me of my hometown (Veep, Scandal, and House of Cards)

A Little Known Fact: I’ve hugged both Michelle and Barack Obama. The First Lady has rather strong arms.

HC: Who is your biggest inspiration?

RD: My dad being in the Army has taught me a lot about sacrifice, service, and adaptability.

The Perfect YOPO Creation: Banana Split–banana and chocolate ice cream swirl with strawberries on top.

Give us your best pick-up line: I wanna live in your socks so I can be with your every step of the way.

Favorite Book: It’s not really a book but I like reading Supreme Court cases because I hope to go to law school one day.

Favorite Dessert: Anything Ben and Jerry’s (dessert is my favorite meal of the day)

HC: I know your dad is in the military, where is the coolest place you have lived thus far?

RD: I lived in South Korea for three years when I was younger. My parents also lived outside of Venice my senior year of high school and last year, so visiting them was awesome.

HC: What do you look for in a relationship?

RD: Excitement and honesty

HC: Who (or what) is your spirit animal?

RD: My favorite animal is a moose but I feel as if I’m more of an otter.

HC: What are you most looking forward to about this school year?

RD: Not making the trek to South Campus anymore and getting more involved on campus.
