25 Thoughts We’ve All Had About SLO Weather

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Welcome to San Luis Obispo, home to the most indecisive weather known to California. If you live here, you’ll understand the struggle. Here are some thoughts that have probably wandered through your mind at least once, or perhaps every single day.

Before your 8 am:

1. It’s cold, right? It looks cold. I’ll wear a sweatshirt and leggings, perfect.

2. WOW. What’s the temperature? I can see my breath. This sweatshirt is doing nothing for me.

3. It says 60 degrees, why does it feel like 36?? I’m still in SLO, right?

After your 8 am:

4. Ah, now this is nice. I can handle this.

5. Wait, what’s happening it’s getting hot.

6. Oh my god I think I’m sweating.

7. Ugh I regret not wearing a shirt under this sweatshirt.

Before your 1 pm:

8. Alright, clearly it’s hot out now. Shorts it is. Flip flops too.

9. I guess I’ll wear my sunglasses. Also, it feels like summer.

10. Woahhh what’s up with the wind. No. No, I’m not okay with this.

11. Oh my god, my hair. My hair is everywhere. Help, send help.

12. Why did I not bring a jacket? Oh yeah, because supposedly it’s 77 degrees. Lies.

After your 1pm:

13. Oh, well now it’s nice again.

14. But cloudy. Why is it so cloudy.

15. But it’s also hot, what is this? Humidity, is that what they call it?

16. Not a fan.

Before your 4pm:

17. Is this…no it can’t be. Rain? Or mist, what is this?

18. Please no, I’m not wearing a hood. I don’t even own a jacket with a hood.

19. Oh, wait it stopped.

After your 4pm:

20. Why I wore flip flops to my 4-6 class, I don’t know.

21. Oh actually I remember, it was sunny!!

22. Now it’s cold. And windy, again. And I just need to get home.

Before bed:

23. Oh hey, my phone says it’s supposed to be 81 tomorrow!

24. Hmm, I’ll just tough it out and wear shorts to my morning class.

Walking to morning class:

25. Bad decision.
