Spring Break: The Hottest Destinations

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C Mich chapter.

With spring break right around the corner, it’s all Central students are talking about. It’s been the hot topic of conversation for months, and now it’s finally here. Students are waiting to let loose and have a good time with friends under the sun. Picking a destination can always be difficult with a large group of friends, and everyone has a different opinion. Well, this list of spring break spots is sure to narrow it down. Here are a few of the hottest spring break spots to check out this year.

First up, is the ever so popular – Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Mexican resorts have always been popular among college students. It’s always fun to spend time in another country in a beautiful resort; who wouldn’t want to experience that? With Mexico being just south of the border, it’s the perfect destination for college students.

Next destination gets the popular vote from CMU students, and that is Panama City Beach, Florida. PCB has been a hot spot for spring breakers for many years now, I’m sure it will not disappoint this time around. With the amount of Central students there, you’re bound to see even more of your friends! How could you not want to spend an entire week soaking up the Vitamin D in the Sunshine State?

However, while some people are spending their spring breaks in warm weather, some have chosen to stay a little closer to home. I mean, why not? It’s less expensive and more convenient. Some students are deciding to go Up North and spend a few days at their cottages in towns like Charlevoix, Traverse City and Elk Rapids. Sometimes it’s nicer to keep things low-key, especially while on a budget. After all, you can always save to go all out next year!

Chicago is another popular spot that CMU students are heading this spring break. While Chicago may be a bit of a drive, it’s still in the Midwest and bound to be a great trip. It may be cold and a little windy, but it’ll be worth it. Between shopping, site seeing, and eating, what more could you ask for?

While some may spend their breaks relaxing, some students are taking advantage of the programs CMU has to offer by attending leadership conferences and alternative breaks. This is a great way to start building your résumé. Students heading to leadership conferences in Washington DC will spend their time learning about leadership and attending various seminars. Students going on alternative breaks will spend their time giving back to various communities across the United States. Some of these places include Arkansas, Wisconsin and Texas. Both of these things are awesome ways to experience new things.

Whether you’re hitting the beach, or staying in colder weather, spring break is going to be a great time no matter where the location. Remember to be safe and know your surroundings when in a foreign place. Use spring break as a time to take a break from all the craziness that comes along with being a college student.
