4 New Years Resolutions To Keep Around

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C Mich chapter.

I think that we can all agree that we haven’t held ourselves accountable when it comes to choosing a New Year’s resolution, but this year will be different. Eating healthy, staying active, improving mental health, and traveling, are simple ways that can allow you to be the best you. New Year’s resolutions don’t need to be life-altering tasks, but instead fun easy things that allow you to maintain a happy and healthy life.

1. Eat Healthy

We have all been guilty of promising ourselves that we would eat better, yet 3 days later we find ourselves with our hands in a Doritos bag. This year, don’t let that be YOU! Stick with it, go on Pinterest and find healthy alternatives for snaking. Plan your meals every Sunday, and stock up at the grocery in the beginning of each week. By reducing unhealthy temptations, you’re setting yourself up for a week of success.

2. Stay Active

Whether your resolution was to go on a run everyday, hit the gym 4 times a week, or invite all your friends over once a week for a late night Insanity workout — keep it up! Staying active does nothing but good things for your body as well as mental health. Working out relieves stress, in which we all could use a stress reliever every now and then.

3. Improve mental health

Think positively, laugh more, do more things for yourself as well as others. Stay organized. Practice time management, and just enjoy life. Take advantage of your college years because, like we have all heard, it all goes by so fast.

4. Travel

Start saving money to allow yourself to take a vacation. Whether that is road tripping to Florida with your best friends for spring break, traveling across the world to study abroad, or taking a weekend ski trip — DO IT. Travel while you’re young and still have the time. Traveling can expose you to the most amazing things in life while allowing you to realize how thankful you are for where you came from.

Let 2015 be the year you stick to your promises, stay motivated and work on yourself! Make this year the best one yet.
