7 Questions We All Had While Watching American Horror Story

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Buff State chapter.

American Horror Story: Roanoke premiered on Wednesday, Sept. 14 and is already leaving fans with unanswered questions.

1. Why are they still in the house? I understand that they used up all of their life savings on the house. I understand they have no where else to go. But, how can someone stay in a house with pig-headed men running around and demonic rituals occuring in the nearby forest? My bags would’ve been packed once I saw teeth falling out the sky. However, since this is television and the main characters need to stay in the house for the plot to thicken, I’ll let this one slide.

2. Who is Priscilla?

The interaction between Priscilla and Flora was by far the scariest. Hearing this little girl talk about blood, murder, and ghost was enough to make me turn the lights on for the rest of the episode. So, who exaclty is Priscilla? All we know is that she wears “funny clothes”, is a child, and only interacts with Flora. From the hat that appeared when the window broke, we can infer that she’s from the colonial time. But, that’s all we have.

3. Who’s is gonna be the ‘R’?

In episode two, we learned about the muderous sister nurses who were killing elderly people in the house years ago. The first letter of their victims’ name spelled out MURDE, which was written on a wall in the house. Before they could complete it, the sisters were driven out by another evil entity. This leaves us all wondering which character is going to help finish the word? No one in the house has a name that starts with a R. Either someone is not being called by their true name or a new character will be introduced. My money is on the former.

4. Where did that mob come from?

Along with Kathy Bates’s creepy character, she has an entourage of tourch-wielders who occasionally appear around the house. We never see where they came from; they just appear. Are they people who live in the forest? Or, are they ghost who just show up when they feel like. Judging by their colonial clothes, I’m going to go with ghost. Now we just have to find out where they come from.

5. Will Evan Peters make an appearance?

Evan is the King of the American Horror Story franchise. Ask anyone. He has been in every single season thus far and never disappoints. But, where is he in this season?! I hope he’s gonna appear in a later episode and has a big role. AHS is not complete until Evan comes through.

6. Is Flora alive?

We were left with a cliffhanger during episode two, when Flora left the house to be with her new friend Flora and end up disappearing. All that was left was her small, yellow jacker…hundreds of feet in the air, dnagling from a tree. This would cause any mother to lose her s*it so I’m sure Lee has hit the bottom of rock bottom, especially since she kidnapped her before this happened. It’s hard to say whether Flora will be alive or not because this is AHS and anything can happen. But they can’t kill the little girl! Right?

7. Why was the ground “breathing” and what impact will this have on the storyline?

This is probably the question I really want answered, mainly because it hasn’t been mentioned again. Why in the world was the ground breathing? Like, I have no clue as to why this was happening. Unless, the forest is “alive” and is how the colonial mob are able to appear. In the first episode, the man leading the bidding told Shelby and Matt that the forest is theres except they can never build on it. Was that a foreshadow? Who knows. I wish I did…
