What’s New BU? Changes and Updates to BU’s Campus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

While we were all hitting the beach this summer, BU certainly made a few changes to its campus. Check out the highlights here:

Center for Student Services at 100 Bay State Road
The Educational Resource Center and the Center for Career Development will now be located in the new facility. The Writing Center has also relocated here. The highlight of 100 Bay State Road is certainly the Fresh
Food Company at Marciano Commons dining facility. Consisting of two levels and 12 food stations there should definitely be something for every student to enjoy.

Connection between the GSU and Mugar
Picture this: It is December 18th, you are sitting in the library, you’ve been studying for an exam for the past few hours and now you are hungry, but you are too lazy to walk out in the frigid Boston winter weather to get something to eat from the GSU, so what do you do… -We’ve all been there… but this will no longer be a problem. With the new connection between the GSU and Mugar, getting a quick snack or caffeine fix at
Starbucks is now easier than ever.

Pinkberry in, Jamba Juice out…

Never liked having to go to the Prudential to get your Pinkberry fix? Well soon enough you will be able to swing by the GSU and get frozen yogurt on the way to class. Use your plethora of dining points to make the experience all that more enjoyable. Now that Pinkberry is in the GSU, and Starbucks has received an expansion, Jamba Juice has been relocated to under Warren Towers in the space that was once Olecito (sorry Olecito lovers…).

New Terrier Cards
The Terrier Cards are now contactless smart cards and can be used in dining facilities, the GSU, retail dining facilities and vending machines. Hopefully making access into the dining facilities quick and easy, you can even use your fingerprint!

BU sports app
If BU wasn’t already tech savvy enough, the university now has a second app that provides quick access to headlines, news updates, schedules and live scores of BU athletics.

Pedestrian Mall
The once quieter vehicle accessible streets, Cummington, Hinsdale, and Blandford Streets have now become pedestrian walkways. In hopes to expand in the future, the streets will be closed off to through traffic making the space more pedestrian friendly.

She also enjoys theatre, frozen yogurt, and obsessively watching "Dancing with the Stars." When not doing any of above, she can be found quoting "Pirates of the Caribbean."
